Detailed scheme and pattern of examination and selection methodology for Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF) exam to be conducted by Jammu & Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC).

A. Screening Test

A Screening Test of 02 hours of duration will be conducted to shortlisted the suitable candidates. Screening test will have one Compulsory Paper of General Studies. The paper shall have answers of multiple choice for each question. The number of questions to be asked will be 120 carrying a maximum of 120 marks. On the basis of result of screening test, the candidates shall be short listed for admitted to the Essay Type Examination. The marks obtained by the candidates in the screening
test shall not be counted while preparing the merit list. The questions will be set on following topics for the Screening Test:-

B. Written Examination

This will be an essay type examination. It shall consist of following subjects/papers.

Compulsory Subject Paper
1. General Knowledge = 100 marks
2. English (essay and précis writing etc.) = 100 marks

Optional Subjects Paper
Any two subjects out of the following – 200 marks (each)
(i) Agriculture
(ii) Botany
(iii) Chemistry
(iv) Computer Application/Science
(v) Engineering (Agriculture/ Chemical/ Civil/ Computer/ Electrical/
Electronics/ Mechanical)
(vi) Environmental Science
(vii) Forestry
(viii) Geology
(ix) Horticulture
(x) Mathematics
(xi) Physics
(xii) Statistics
(xiii) Veterinary Science
(xiv) Zoology
The standard of these subjects shall be equivalent to Bachelor’s Degree.

C. Interview Test

Candidates found qualified in the above examinations shall be called further to appear in the interview. The maximum marks for the interview shall be 75. This will be mandatory to qualify in Interview.

D. Walking Test

This test is provisioned to examine the physical fitness and endurance of candidates. Male candidates are required to pass a physical test covering a distance of 25 kilometers. Similarly Female candidates have to cover a distance of 16 kilometers. The said distances is to be covered within four hours on foot.

E. Medical Test

The Commission will arrange for the Medical Examination of candidates by a Medical board. Every candidate must have to clear the medical fitness test. No relaxation shall be permissible in this regard.

The final merit list for the selection/appointment shall be prepared basis of the performance of candidates in above mentioned examinations.
