Find here the pattern and scheme of UPSC Combined Medical Services Examination. Union Public Service Commission will conduct the examination according to the following plan:-

Part-I : Computer Based Examination

This test will be of maximum 500 marks. Computer based examination will have two Papers. Each Paper carrying a maximum of 250 marks. Each Paper will be of two hours duration. Questions of Paper-I will be based on following components;
(a) General Ability – 30 questions
(b) General Medicine – 70 questions
(c) Paediatrics – 20 questions

Paper-II will be a subject paper. This will have the various questions to examine the knowledge of concern subject/specialty of the candidate. There are four alternatives for the answers to every question. For wrong answer given by the candidate, one third (0.33) of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as
penalty.

Part-II : Personality Test

Personality Test hall have a total of 100 Marks. Candidates who qualify in the Computer based examination, will further be called to appear in Personality Test. The interview for Personality Test will be intended to serve as a supplement to Computer based examination for testing the General Knowledge and ability of the candidates in the fields of their academic study.
