Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) holds the Combined Defence Services Examination (CDS) including SSC (Women Non – Technical) Course for admission to Indian Military Academy, Indian Naval Academy and Air force Academy and Officers Training Academy, Chennai for the courses (Men and Women). Here is the scheme, standard and syllabus of the examination.

Scheme of Examination

1. The Competitive examination of UPSC CDS (II) will comprise of the followings-
(a) Written Examination
(b) Interview for the intelligence and personality test

2. Subjects of written test, time allowed and the maximum marks to each subject are shown below.
(a) For Admission to Indian Military Academy, Indian Naval Academy and Air Force Academy:—
» English language test for 100 marks with maximum duration of 2 hours.
» General Knowledge test for 100 marks with maximum time duration of 2 hours.
» Elementary Mathematics test to be conducted for 100 max marks with time duration of 2 hours.
(b) For Admission to Officers’ Training Academy:—
» English language test for 100 marks with maximum duration of 2 hours.
» General Knowledge test for 100 marks with maximum time duration of 2 hours.

Marks

Maximum marks allotted to written test and to the interviews will be equal for each course i.e. marks allotted to the written examination and to the interviews will be 300, 300, 300 and 200 each for admission to the Indian Military Academy, Indian Naval Academy, Air Force Academy and Officers’ Training Academy respectively.

Standard of Examination

The papers in all the subjects will consist of objective type questions only. Question papers of General Knowledge and Elementary Mathematics will be set bilingually in Hindi and English. Difficulty standard of the questions in Elementary Mathematics will be equivalent to Matriculation level. Standard of papers in other subjects will approximately be equivalent to Graduation level of an Indian University.
