Indian Navy Selection Procedure – Pilot/ Air Traffic Controller

Basically, the Indian Navy issues call up letters to the eligible candidates for Service Selection Board (SSB) interviews based on their academic performances. Shortlisted candidates are informed about their selection for SSB interview on their e-mail or through SMS (provided by candidate in their application form). Total duration of interviews may lasts upto five days consisting of Stage-I and Stage-II.

Stage-I (Day One): It consist of general Intelligence Tests, Picture Perception and Group Discussions. Candidates who failed to qualify in Stage-I will be out from selection process.
Stage-II: It consists of Psychological Tests, Group Task Tests and Interview. Candidates found successful will further undergo medical examination. Candidates of Pilo entry are also required to undergo through Pilot aptitude battery test followed by Aviation medical examination.

Candidates recommended by Service Selection Boards and declared fit will be appointed for training based on merit list and depending on the number of vacancies. Candidates may shortlisted through fix cut off percentage. No communication is entertained on this account. Any change in allotted SSB Centre for interview is not permissible. No compensation is paid in respect of any injury sustained to a candidate during SSB tests.

Training
Candidates are inducted as officers in the rank of Sub Lieutenant. The training is imparted at Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala, Kerala. Full pay and allowances are admissible whilst under the training.

Pilot Entry: Pilot candidates are undergo through 22 weeks Naval orientation course (NOC) at INA, Ezhimala followed by Stage-I and Stage-II flying training. On successful completion of training, the candidates are awarded wings and they entitled for flying pay and allowances only after award of wings.

ATC Entry: Candidates of Air Traffic Controller are undergo through 22 weeks of Naval Orientation Course at Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala followed by professional training at various Naval Training Establishments/Units/Ships.
