How to apply:Recruitment will be carried out through all the Headquarters Recruiting Zones, IRO Delhi Cantt, GRD Kunraghat, Ladakh Scouts Regt Centre (Leh). Civil candidates (applying for Pandit, Granthi, Padri and Maulvi categories) will have to submit online application through Indian Army website at Civil Gorkha candidates will submit written application to “Gorkha Recruiting Depot, Kunraghat”. Civil Muslim and Buddhist candidates of Ladakh region will submit written application to “Ladakh Scouts Regimental Centre, Leh”.

Selection Procedure to Join Indian Army as Religious Teacher

Candidates found eligible will be issued with Admit Card for initial screening which will include checking of genuine certificates, physical fitness test followed by medical examination. Screened candidates will be put through a written examination. The final merit list will be based on the marks obtained by the candidates in Paper-2 and Interview. Candidates finally selected will be enrolled as JCO (RT) and will undergo 06 weeks of basic training. On successful completion of training the candidates will be commissioned as Religious Teachers in the rank of Naib Subedar in Indian Army.

Indian Army JCO RRT Exam Pattern

The written examination will contain objective type of questions and comprise of two papers. Paper-1 is common to all religious candidates and a qualifying exam only. Candidates scoring at least 40% marks in Paper-I will only be assessed in Paper-II. Marks obtained in Paper-2 will be counted for preparation of merit list for appearing in the interview. Negative marks per wrong answer will be -0.5. Every question will be of 02 marks in both papers. There are No bonus marks for son of Serving/Ex-servicemen/War Widow/Widow and Sportsmen/NCC/Computer certificate holders.

Religious Teachers preach religious scriptures to troops and conduct various rituals at Regimental/Unit religious institutions of Indian Army. Their work profile also include attending funerals, ministering to the sick in army hospitals, visiting soldiers undergoing sentence, reading prayers with the convalescents, giving special religious instructions to the children and enlisted boys.
