GATE 2019 — Graduate Aptitude Test In Engineering 2019

GATE 2019 latest notification is now live. Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an online aptitude test for engineers conduct globally by the IIT Madras, Chennai. Qualifying in GATE is a mandatory requirement for seeking admission and/or financial assistance to various Postgraduate (Masters or Doctoral) programs with Ministry of Human Resources Development, Govt of India. GATE score is also used in several Govt Scholarships/Assistantships in the streams of Engineering/Architecture/Technology/Science. Many public sector undertakings (PSUs) of India also use GATE score for the recruitment of Engineering and Technology professionals. Important Dates:
  1. Starting date of application: 01.09.2018
  2. Closing date of application: 21.09.2018 (extended up to 01.10.2018)
  3. GATE 2019 exam dates: 02.02.2019, 03.02.2019, 09.02.2019, 10.02.2019
Application Fee:
  • Rs.750/- for SC/ST/PwD/Female (for exam centres in India)
  • Rs.1500/- for all other candidates (for exam centres in India)
  • Rs.500/- additional fee is payable during extended period of application (for exam centres in India)
  • US$ 100 (for exam centres in Dubai & Singapore)
  • US$ 50 (for exam centres in Colombo, Addis Ababa, Dhaka, Kathmandu)
  • US$ 20 additional fee is payable during extended period of application (for exam centres in Abroad)
  • Fee is payable by Online mode.

GATE Exam 2019 Selection Procedure

All the applications submitted for GATE 2019 examination will be scrutinized for the accuracy of the data provided by candidates. Eligible candidates will be called to appear in Online Written Examination. GATE online coaching can help the candidates to perform better in exam and get declared qualified.

GATE Exam Pattern 2019

All the papers of the GATE 2019 examination will be of 3 hours duration and consist of 65 questions for a total of 100 marks. Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) carrying 1 or 2 marks are objective in nature, and each will have a choice of four answers. For a wrong answer given, there will be negative marking. For 1-mark MCQ, 1/3 mark will be deducted likewise, for 2-mark MCQ, 2/3 mark will be deducted for a wrong answer. There is NO negative marking for a wrong answer in NAT questions. The questions in a paper may be designed to test the following abilities of candidates- Recall, Comprehension, Application, Analysis and Synthesis etc. 1/3 marks will be deducted for the wrong answers i.e (0.33) marks for 1 mark questions and (0.66) marks will be deducted for questions carrying 2 marks. No mark will be deducted for the wrong answer to NAT questions.

  1. General Aptitude Test: Also known as GA, General Aptitude Test is common in all papers. It covers the common knowledge and experiences of candidates related to every day science and observations. The main purpose of this test is to assess the general aptitude standard of candidate.
