Here is the detailed selection methodology for the posts of Forest Guard in West Bengal Police. Candidates who will qualify through the below mentioned successive stages shall be selected for the appointment. Please read carefully and prepare to get the job of Forest Guard in West Bengal Police.

STAGE-I: Written Examination

Candidates provisionally considered eligible after the primary scrutiny shall have to appear in Competitive Written Examination. This will carry a total of 90 marks having 90 questions. Every question shall have a weight-age of 1 (one) mark. The duration of the Written Examination will be 60 minutes. Questions will be set on the following topics/subjects:-
a. General Awareness and General Knowledge – 30 Marks (30 questions)
b. English – 20 Marks (20 questions)
c. Elementary Mathematics (Matric standard) – 30 Marks (30 questions)
d. Reasoning – 10 Marks (10 questions)

There will be a provision of Negative marking for each wrong answer. ¼th of the allotted marks for a particular question will be deducted for given each wrong answer.

STAGE-II: PST / PET

Candidates on basis of the result of Written Examination will be called for physical standard examinations, as followings;
(i) Physical Standard Test (PST)
» Male candidates
Height – 163 cms
Chest – 84 cms normal/ 89 cms expanded

» Female candidates
Height – 150 cms
Chest – 79 cms normal/ 84 cms expanded

(ii) Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
For Male candidates: 25 kilometer walk to be completed within 4 (four) hours.
For Female candidates: 16 kilometer walk to be completed within 4 (four) hours.

Physical Efficiency Test is qualifying in nature. No mark will be given to qualify this test. However, this is mandatory to pass this test.

STAGE-III: Interview/Personality Test

The candidates who will qualify in the PST & PET will be called for Personality Test or Interview. This will have a weight-age of 10 marks. In the Personality Test, the general awareness and suitability of the candidate for public service will be tested.

STAGE-IV: Medical Fitness Test

The candidates must have sound hearing faculty, eye sight and general fitness. In case of defective vision, it must be corrected to at least 6/9 in the better eye and 6/12 in the other eye. Candidate must not suffer from color blindness.

STAGE-V: Selection

Candidates who will satisfy/qualify all the eligibility criteria will be considered for final selection on the aggregate marks obtain in the written examination and the personality test.
