The Selection Process of Executive Trainees (Engineering/ Technology) in Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) consists of marks obtained (out of 100) in the corresponding paper of GATE, Group Discussion & Personal Interview. Candidates must have to appear for the corresponding paper in GATE examination of the concern year. Candidates qualified in corresponding paper of GATE shall only be eligible to be considered for the next stage of selection in POWERGRID. Only Indian Nationals of age 18 years or above are eligible to apply for POWERGRID.

Selection Procedure

Eligible candidates shall be short-listed category-wise for the Group Discussion & Personal Interview based on their normalized marks out of 100 in GATE, in corresponding paper. Candidates shortlisted for the Group Discussion and Interview must bring all of their documents (photocopies as well as originals). Candidates must qualify in the Personal Interview in order to be considered for empanelment. Qualifying percentage in Interview is 40% for General candidates and 30% for reserved categories (OBC (NCL)/SC/ST/PwD). Group discussion will not have any Qualifying Marks. For calculation of final score for empanelment, the weightages of marks shall be as indicated below:

Marks obtained in GATE, in concern year (out of 100) in corresponding Paper 85%
Group Discussion 3%
Personal Interview 12%
Total Weight-age 100%

The offer of appointment shall be issued to the suitable candidates in the order of category wise merit and based on the requirement. Appointment of selected candidates will be subject to their being found medically fit in the Pre-employment Medical Fitness Test. Applicants must have sound health.
