Examination pattern and scheme for the post of Junior Engineer (Signal & Telecom) in Konkan Railway Corporation Limited. Detailed structure of exam for selection of JE (S&T) in Konkan Railway.

Based on the applications received, eligible candidates will be called for written examination. The written examination will be of two tier – Objective and Subjective types. The total marks of these tests shall be 200 marks which will be converted to 100 as full mark. 1/3 marks will be deducted as negative marking for each wrong answer in Objective Paper only.

Objective Test

Objective test will be of 150 marks total, with a duration of 2 hours. Break-up or distribution of marks is as follows-
1. 90 marks will be for Technical ability & General Science.
2. 60 marks will be for General Intelligence, Reasoning, General awareness, Arithmetic.

Descriptive Test

Descriptive test will be of 50 marks. Duration of descriptive type test will be 1.30 hour. Break-up or distribution of marks is as follows-
1. 35 marks will be for professional attitude
2. 15 marks for proficiency in English Language (Precis writing and comprehension)

The total marks obtained out of these 200 marks will be converted to 100 as full mark. The minimum qualifying mark will be 60% for all category. No round Off will be carried out there. Out of the qualified candidates two separate panels will be formed, one for Land losers and the second one for others. The second panel will be considered after exhausting the number of qualified candidates from Land losers. This will be followed by scrutiny of documents as per merit order.

Prior to posting, a training is imparted of the Signaling and Telecommunication installations to be maintained (like Centralized Operation of Points and Multiple Aspect Color Light Signal, Block Instruments, Telephone exchanges, communication circuits for train traffic, announcement system, clocks, electronic indicator etc.). The training is also imparted for the maintenance of Lifting Barrier gates, Optic fibre and Copper Quad cable installing and the circuits derived from them, along the route.
