Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) recruits and holds various competitive examinations and the recruitment tests for the several civil and administrative services within the state. Recruitment is done by the way of two methods of (a) Direct Recruitment and (b) Promotion-
- Direct Recruitment: Direct recruitment is made mainly by the way of conducting competitive examination in which the selection is done on basis of marks obtained in Main (Written) Exam & Interview of the successful candidates of the Preliminary Test. For some specific posts only the Written Test and Interview are conducted.
- Promotion: Promotion is granted to civil servants through the Departmental Promotion Committee constituted for the same and in accordance with the rules framed by Bihar State Government.

Pay Scale:
Qualification: Bachelor Degree in Civil/Mechanical Engineering/Technology from a recognised university. Preference will be given to the Trained Trainee candidates.
Age Limit: minimum 18 years to maximum 37 years as on 01.08.2012. Relaxations or reservation will be admissible as per rules.
Selection Process: Eligible candidates will be shortlisted/selected on the basis of their performance in written examination and/or interview. A preliminary screening test may also be conducting if the number of applicants found in large. Merit list for the selection on posts of Assistant Engineers shall be prepared on the basis of Written Test (Main) and Interview.

Application Fee: Candidates belonging to Scheduled castes or Schedule tribes of Bihar state have to pay an application fee of Rs.259/-. All other candidates including General/OBC categories have to pay a fee of Rs.809/-. Fee can be paid through Fee challan at SBI bank counter.
